JOBS AND SKILLS

Peddimore currently supports approximately 3,000 operational jobs on site during peak periods at Amazon. We continue to work closely with the North Birmingham Economic Recovery Board as board members to promote and communicate employment, skills, training and procurement opportunities to the widest possible audience.

Our commitments to delivering local employment include:

  • Paying the real living wage to anyone servicing our contracts at Peddimore as a Good Employer
  • Supporting 12 university students as part of the Building Birmingham Scholarship programme, which includes financial support of £9,500 per student alongside providing mentoring and up to three months of work placements for each of the students that participated.
  • Helping 95 disadvantaged people back to work, by working with our four Social Value partners to identify and support individuals who were facing challenges getting back into employment.
  • Ensuring that all job opportunities at Peddimore are advertised with Birmingham City Council’s Employment Access Team (EAT).
  • Creating a dedicated procurement hub to connect local businesses with opportunities at Peddimore, with a commitment to ensuring that 50% of what we spend is with local suppliers based within 30 miles.
  • Supporting local SMEs by hosting Meet the Buyer events and workshops to connect IM Properties and our contractors with the local business community and supply chain.

Supporting and empowering local people

Social value image

We have forged ties with four Social Value partner organisations currently active within local communities to create opportunities and deliver a legacy of sustained economic and social change.

We worked with The Pioneer Group in Birmingham to better understand some of the challenges faced by local communities and support their work in enabling pathways to employment. This partnership working has included a “Pathway to Peddimore” employment talk and highlighting training and employment opportunities.

We have also worked with Solutions for the Planet, a social enterprise that promotes sustainability and STEM careers to young people. This has helped to further enhance our education offering at Peddimore, working together to bring their Big Ideas programme aimed at 11-14 year olds into schools.

Through our work to support and empower people, we have had the privilege of working with many local educational establishments including: Hodge Hill School, Erdington Academy, Stockland Green, Footsteps Nursery, Holy Cross Nursery, Birmingham City University, South and City College, City of Birmingham School, St Edmund Campion and Minworth Junior School.
